COVID Protocols for School Staff Revised
The TEA
released (Jan. 7) relaxed new COVID-19 quarantine protocols for school staff that are basically in line with revised protocols issued by the CDC.

The new guidelines call for staff who have tested positive, but have experienced no symptoms, to wait to return to work for at least five days after the day they tested positive.

For those who have experienced COVID symptoms, the guidance says they may return to work after at least five days after their symptoms have subsided. Previous guidance was based on 10-day quarantine protocols.

No changes have been made, as of press time, to the 10-day quarantine rules that have been in place for students since September.

The guidance continues to disallow school districts, per the governor’s GA38 directive, to impose mask mandates, a directive that many districts are continuing to ignore.
