Commissioner's Decision
Parents Can’t Force ISD to Put Twins in Same Class
Ruling: An appeal by parents of twins who sought to override the principal’s decision to put the twins in different classrooms is dismissed. Parents v. Lago Vista ISD, No. 009-R10-10-2019. Signed Jan. 27.
The parents of twin children in LVISD appealed to the commissioner after the district denied their grievance seeking to overturn their principal’s rejection of the parents’ request to put the twins in the same classroom.
The commissioner dismissed the parents’ appeal on a finding that they could not identify any “school laws of this state” that would empower the commissioner to rule on their claims.
