TEA Calculates HB3 School Pay Hike Data
Gov. Abbott and TEA released (Oct. 29) a report and individual district data, showing significant pay raises for Texas teachers for the 2019-20 school year as a result of 2019’s HB3. (See the press release, the summary report and individual district data.)

- The TEA announced (Oct. 29) the names of the first campuses to be given the Purple Star Designation, a special honor created by 2019’s SB1557 to recognize ISD and charter school campuses that show their support and commitment to meeting the unique needs of military-connected students and their families.
Of the 106 campuses given the honor, the most were in
Socorro ISD in El Paso, where 39 of the campuses were given the Purple Star Designation. - Windham School District (the state’s prison-based ISD) wants to partner with school districts throughout Texas to provide a Family Literacy Program (info here) to help incarcerated parents become involved in their children’s education.
Participation from school districts is requested in order for incarcerated parents to apply newly learned skills in situations such as parent-teacher conferences.
