Can’t Require Masks for Voters in Schools While Voting
TEA Provides Guidance for Election Day
The TEA says in guidance issued on Oct. 8 (currently on Page 17 here) that although an order by the governor does not require voters to wear masks in polling places, schools “can and should” continue to enforce mask requirements for individuals who are in schools for any purpose other than voting on Election Day.
The update also provides guidance for districts choosing to close for instruction on Election Day — or offer remote-only instruction on that day — with the overall advice given that district’s must comply with requirements to provide 75,600 minutes of instruction for the school year.
