U.S. Senate Youth Application
The United States Senate Youth Program, established in 1962 by U.S. Senate Resolution, is a unique educational experience for outstanding high school students interested in pursuing careers in public service. 


COVID-19 UPDATE: The 59th annual United States Senate Youth Program (USSYP) will be held in an online format for 2021. Washington Week ONLINE will take place March 14 – 18, 2021 and will be a fully immersive learning experience incorporating the key elements of the program week in an exciting, interactive format.


Two students from each state will be selected to attend the online program and each will receive a $10,000 undergraduate college scholarship. Students must attend the entirety of the program to receive the scholarship. Students may qualify to apply through leadership positions they currently hold per the USSYP official criteria for the current 2020-2021 academic year, OR if students are unable to hold leadership positions this year due to the pandemic, they can submit a qualifying position held during the 2019-2020 academic year. All student leadership positions are subject to the judgement and verification of the state selection administrators.


The Texas United States Senate Youth Program is for high school students who demonstrate leadership and an interest in government. Students must be a junior or senior in High School. Interested students must be nominated by the high school principal and/or student council advisor and inform them that you are interested in applying to the Texas US Senate Youth Program. Students must have their recommendation to apply, and submit the completed application and supporting documentation to TASSP/TASC by November 13, 2020. The student applicant must currently be serving in an elected capacity in any one of the following student government, civic or educational organizations.   • Student Body: President, Vice President, Secretary, or Treasurer
  • Class President, Vice president, Secretary or Treasurer
  • Student Council: Representative
  • District, regional, or state-level civic or educational organizations representative
  • National Honor Society officer (Only elected officers are eligible)
NOTE: School clubs (e.g., Chess Club/Language Honor Societies) are not considered civic or educational organizations.
