Board Hears 16+ Hours of Testimony
About PE and (Mostly) Health (Sex) Ed
State Board of Education (SBOE) members during their meeting held virtually spent a great deal of time on items that will lead to the eventual approval of revisions to the physical education (agenda) and health education (agenda) TEKS.
The meeting included a public hearing that drew more than 200 people testifying (listed here) over 16 hours, a hearing that did not conclude until 1:30 a.m. the next morning. webcasts (Item 1 for PE and Item 2 for Health)
As expected, most of the testimony focused on the health education TEKS, specifically sex education (Texas Tribune).
